Since 2001, the non-profit association 'Lebenswerte Region Bonn-Siebengebirge ' has been committed to preserving, protecting and improving the natural livelihoods of people and the flora and fauna in Bonn and the region. It is committed to promoting and improving environmentally friendly infrastructure measures, in particular local public transport, as well as developing the cultural landscape through careful, people-oriented regional planning. Priority should not be given to road traffic.

The reason for founding the association was the debate about reviving the "Südtangente" as a trunk road link between the A3 and A565 freeways. Today, the association is committed, among other things, to a landscape-friendly development of the northern Siebengebirge area and the construction of the innovative cable car as a public transport connection between Venusberg and Ramersdorf.
